Higher mileage mk2 reliability

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Looking to buy my first car. I found a 2011 1.2 Fabia (60hp) with 112k miles. How reliable are these cars once they get older/up there in terms of mileage? Anything I should be looking for in specific? Can add a link to the listing if it's allowed here. Cheers!

I wouldn't touch the 1.2 6V engine, they're prone to burning the valves out and it's an expensive fix.

Keep looking, try and find a 1.4 if you can.

I believe it’s a 12 valve - the engine code is CHFA.

CHFA is a 6-valver, 12-valve is 70bhp in mk2s.

Might last some time, might not. It would have to be very cheap to be worth a gamble I reckon.

I would also recommend the 1.4 16v engine. Proving you change the cambelt and water pump on time they appear to be very reliable. We have one in the family for 6 years now it has over 100k miles and absolutely no engine  problems even towed a 1000kg trailer with it for 1k+ miles.

Belief generally causes errors, it's a 6V engine and it'll give you trouble.
