Hi all...I'm sure this may have been posted already, but I have a 2014 octavia recently purchased without a SD cars for the navigation.

I've contacted my local skoda dealership and provided them my reg and VIV. They informed me that the cost of an SD card for my car is £260, but then in the second paragraph just told me to update another SD card on skoda Auto and that should so it...

Is this right because I keep seeing that certain SD  cards don't work and some do, so am completely confused really. Is just as simple as buying an SD card with enough storage and downloading from the Web the maps?

Thanks

Matt

If it's an Amundsen unit, you have to use a genuine Skoda SD card, an ordinary SD card will not work. Can you provide a screenshot of the version number for your unit and someone will be able to give you more info?

Do the maps currently work?

If they do and you just want to update, it's likely you have Columbus and any SD card will be fine.

If the maps are not working, it sounds like Amundsen and so you'll probably need a genuine Skoda card - I think a few people on here sell them for considerably less than £260

just looking at that without googling the part number, I'd take an educated guess you've got an Amundsen and you're going to need an OEM sd card.

I'd be more questioning the dealer as to why the car wasn't sound with one, or were they an optional extra?

When I had a MIB1 Amundsen like that I found several genuine Skoda SD cards on eBay (other auction sites are available) for around 10-20% of the cost of a new one.

The year doesn't matter buy what you can, then download the latest available from the Skoda portal and update the SD card.

BTW Skoda stopped making updates available after 2020 - 5 years after the MIB1 went out of production.

Just get intouch with "Rustynuts " on this site, he'll sort you out, he did for me.
