LED Bulbs keep burning out

Featured Replies

Hi. I’ve got a 2010 Octavia 1.6 TDI DSG, with the standard halogen headlights. About a week ago, I installed LED bulbs on the dipped lights, and on the right hand side it already burned through 3 LED bulbs. The left one is fine , and the bulbs aren’t of bad quality as I know others who haven’t had any issues with them. Anybody know why the right hand side keeps burning the bulbs? Thanks

Who are the suppliers and manufacturers of the LED bulbs? Some of the cheaper ones of Chinese origin are known to lack over voltage protection.

Also worth checking the alternator output voltage when charging to make sure you don't have a voltage regulator issue.

I attached a photo of the bulbs I use. They seem of decent quality. Alternator output voltage also looks good. Might try a different, more expensive brand of bulbs to see if it makes any difference. It’s very frustrating…

Chinese manufacturer based in Guangzhou who sell direct, via ebay and in Nigeria - wouldn't be my first choice.

I have replaced most of the bulbs in my previous (non-Skoda) and my current car with LEDs, but I have used only Philips bulbs - never had a single failure in over 10 years.
