Is the 80 worth the extra over the 60

Featured Replies

I am considering an Enyaq. My commute a couple of days a week is an 80 mile round trip so the 60 would easily cope

However once a month I visit family and that’s a 210 mile round trip with nowhere to charge at their house

i know the quoted range of the 60 would manage that trip but I assume in winter I’m not going to make 210 miles and more like 170?

in which case is the 80 worth the extra so I can get there and back without charging. It’s just the 80 does seem to carry quite a premium

In my opinion, no.

I do at least a couple of times per year, a trip to northern Denmark, 2000+ miles round trip.

With the faster charging now, I am very happy with it. Would I save much time by having an i80 instead? No, one charge stop difference.

I can wait 30 minutes many times for 8k - choose some lovely useful packs instead.

No matter which you go for - enjoy it!

Which country? You can't order a 60 currently in the UK...

Kent is in United Kingdom…. 😉

I am probably looking at getting a used one but maybe not at current used prices

Thats interesting about the 60. Is that just due to supply or are they phasing the 60 out and only offering the 80?

Reducing options to concentrate on getting at least something out of the factory. 60 is less popular across Europe (but more in the UK) and therefore they've stopped taking orders it building new ones for now.  It'll come back when supply problems ease.

Ah ok. I guess that will mean more used 80s available soon but still at a premium

I’ve been running a 60 since last July and I’d say the 80 isn’t worth the premium. An 80 would do your 210 mile round trip in one charge, but you can literally put a price on what that will cost. 15 minutes on a rapid charger somewhere on your journey in a 60 is the difference.

Realistic range I have achieved is 200 miles in summer and 150 miles in winter.

I do around 70 miles on a work day. Once you find out some convenient rapid charger locations on your regular 200+ mile trip, I don’t think you’d have any issues with a 60.

You are literally paying for the extra batteries on an 80, the actual car is the same, and I believe it will also have wider, rear tyres.

You can no longer get a government subsidy at £35k max, dropped to £30k so perhaps Skoda see no point in a slightly cheaper 60 model now as they don’t offer a car below that threshold.

?

Is it not still at £32,000.     Same point though.

Once the EV Battery shortages and chip / materials  shortages are over and VW Group / Skoda can get EV's into the UK they might well have to be offering cheaper ones with smaller batteries again, but only if they are not get sold  all the EV's they can ship in.

get the 80 and don't look back

Get the 80, this is my drive  today on my 80x from Amsterdam to Zurich, 4 adults + lugage. 3x30 min stops to charge and stretch our legs.

How are prices going on any used Enyaqs being sold in the UK?

thanks for the plug George 😉

60 is perfectly fine for the UK. I regularly drive from Livingston to Milton Keynes with zero issues. Was in Manchester again last week and at this time of year the car can do that without stopping. I on the other hand can't so I had to stop at Carnforth for aome food and a toilet stop after 3 hours.  The 80 has a bigger battery but the extra weight menas it is less efficient, so it's not a linear increase in range with increased battery capacity.

Agree,

on Thursday I managed to go from Manchester to Pembroke in one go, 204 miles

Good enough for me, and saved £9k.

Theres for a lot of charges in that!

A good comparison review IMO.

I hope he checked the tyre pressures on each model before comparing ride and steering feel like that of the Enyaq.

Just to know they were not over inflated.
