Possible VERY HEAVY oil consumption from that engine that is very expensive to put right IE new engine.

Check to see if the car has had a new engine or record of an engine rebuild,   some have had.    A good model if all is well.  Servicing and maintenance done as it should be.   But you need to look at the possible issues with euro 5 1.8 TSI.s.  sadly there can be issues.  See pinned thread at top of Octavia mk3 section and search threads on here.  Has the DSG been serviced each 40,000 miles.  The Haldex every 3 years or 30,000 miles?

thanks guys, i have no idea about the thing yet but will definitely be asking for receipts etc

@gs800

Welcome.

Sorry, Just spotted you are a new member and in Australia. Missed the g'day.

(I was on a phone when i posted and did not see this.)

I assumed it was 133,000 miles and never considered it as being km.

Still condition condition condition and servicing and maintenance and actual jobs done that matters.

..from what I have read about problems with the 1.8 petrol engines it's not something I would be considering.....but then again if it's already done 133k miles...and it has a suitable warranty that would cover both the engine and auto box....?

The warranty would have to be very good and get the car a new engine for a 10 year old car.  And when the warranty expires you would want to be able to get another.     A Briskoda member in the UK bought a 1.8tsi from Evan Halshaw and was fortunate enough and did all the right things and got a new engine.    There is a thread here on that.

I believe the yeti was available from launch with the 1.8 tsi engine.

I had a 2010 1.8 tsi 160hp 4x4 elegance and a 2013 1.8 tsi 160hp 4x4 L&K

👍 Yes brochure shows from launch in 2009.
It only disappeared in May 2015 when the new 2.0 TDI AdBlue engines were brought in.
