I have a 63 plate petrol automatic estate. Had it for 4 months. Twice today I have turned the ignition key to find no lights on the dash. No sign of life at all. Tried both keys. After maybe 10 minutes of trying it returns to normal operation and starts first time.

i noticed the clock and trip count has reset. Any advice welcome. I have a Ctek charger and was going to give the battery a topup. Can I do this with the battery in situ and connnected?

Yes.

Checking the battery terminals again I found the positive connector could be turned by hand. Have tightened it now. Wonder if that was the problem

Yes, probably.

 

No harm in topping up the charge as well.
