Squealing noise coming from ASV on startup

Featured Replies

Hi.

I've been lurking on these forums for a while and until now I have managed to solve all my problems with already answered questions.... Thanks!

I have had a squealing noise coming from the top of the engine, just below the windshield. It does stop after 10-15 minutes though. A few days ago I decided to find exactly where it was coming from and found it to be some sort of valve. Today while searching for an answer to a friend's problem I've learnt the valve is the anti shudder valve (ASV). Is this something I should be concerned about? I really don't mind spending a little cash here and there on this car even if it's to give me peace of mind.

I look forward to discussing this with you!

I had a problem with the ASV in mine     ( by chance the engine code in mine is also ASV :D )

Issues were : engine wouldnt stop when 'ignition' turned off and had great difficulty starting from cold.  All resolved following cleaning the air inlet tract ( i.e.  EGR, inlet manifold etc etc.

Now this doesnt sound like your problem so its probably not any help 😞

Might your squealing noise be due to a leak in the vacuum system ?
