Bank 1 Sensor 2 Location UK

Featured Replies

Hi there!

On my RHD 2015 Fabia, I have recently got a engine management light on the dash which is for the Bank 1 Sensor 2 being faulty (after using redex for the first time - i imagine carbon deposits built up on it)

I am planning to clean the sensor or most likely replace it with a new one, does anyone know the exact location as I have searched for a while but am not entirely sure? Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Cheers!

The 2nd Lambda (Oxygen) sensor. Bank is the manifold number, so something like a V8 would have 2 exhaust manifolds  Sensor 1 and sensor 2, is from the engine before and after the catalyst.

So B1 S2, is the O2 Sensor just after the exhaust catalyst. I had to change that on my Yeti after the engine management light came up, IIRC about £140 from TPS to buy one

Is it a 1.0 or 1.2 engine?

Fantastic! I've had a little look on eBay and I've found one that seems to be compatible for a really good price, it's as simple as unscrewing & unplugging old one, then putting in the new one and cable tying, right?

Don't assume it is the sensor that is faulty.

Normally a 22mm spanner is required.

What / how did you use the Redex?

Have you tried clearing the fault code first?

Thanks, AG Falco

So I bought the car in November,

Got the fault code after a full tank and 2 shots of Redex maybe in January as it had been sitting unused for around a year - I thought it'd clean it out a bit.

Cleared the fault codes about 6 times with Carista, keeps popping back after maybe 10-15 miles always when I'm going about 70mph & always the same fault.

I just imagined that it would be the sensor because it came up after using redex and I thought that perhaps the carbon deposits got packed on the sensor? This same thing has also happened on my mum's 2001 Ford Fiesta after using Redex, faults have however cleared since by just driving.

I have drove maybe 1000 miles with the light as I have been so busy with life and need the car daily - not a good decision.

Cheers!

So no fault codes now?

Is the engine running well?

Have you tried a tank of premium fuel ( Tesco Momentum ) and an Italian tune up?

Thanks, AG Falco

Sorry, I didn't word it very clearly in last msg,

Same prob happened after Redex use on my mother's Ford Fiesta,

Fault code persists on my car,

I have had a little look under and I believe to have found Bank 1 Sensor 2 (013)

No holes or obvious leaks to be seen in exhaust manifold

Faulty sensor or faulty signal?

Can Carista show you live readings or just the fault code?

Yes that is the sensor in the third photo.

Thanks, AG Falco

Buying a cheap sensor can work out very expensive in the medium, long or even short term, Lemark was a cheap brand for other stuff but if others have found their sensors to be good fair enough.

As pointed out don't shoot the messenger, in this case sensor 2, without checking and interpreting the information given, where a fault shows may not be where it originates from (though it can be).

It might be the photo or that you have touched the sensor perhaps but do they all look like that in that area - have you checked the sensor is in tightly, most have trouble getting them out so you'd soon know if it was loose.

As I wrote earlier I had that exact error code come on my Yeti. I used one of those box spanners with a slot cut for the cable, made for those sensors. Also sprayed it with penetrating oil, it came out quite easily tbh.

I agree with your thoughts on non OE parts, I've had issues before with reversing sensors. That's why I replaced with a VW part from TPS. With the new sensor fitted, the fault code cleared and that's been a year so far with no issues.
