Coolant level fault

Featured Replies

Hi all, I have the strangest fault, and no codes showing.

When running for the first time, after around 8 miles, my temperature gauge goes all the way to 130, " check coolant level, warning buzzer etc, I pull over, switch off, back on and it drops to 90, yes, the level is fine, I've never had a coolant issue in 71000 miles or any other fault either.

The temperature generally stays at 90 for the rest of the day with no issues.

Next day, same thing, sometimes it might do this temperature thing for an hour or so, sometimes, it'll do it on slight inclines, its got me baffled, and not having a fault code doesn't help at all.

Has anyone else experienced this and if so, what did you find??

Thanks in advance.

Regards

Tony

Hi Tony, welcome to the forum. Very likely to be the thermostat sleeve sticking - can be a common fault on certain models. Try a search for this under cooling problems. What car and engine do you have?

Get the thermostat checked, common fault.
