Slight oil leak from turbo pipe? Should I be worried

Featured Replies

Had a 20K inspection service yesterday and got a list of things wrong but this one caught my attention slight oil leak to turbo pipe. Should this need repairing cause the dealer did not seem to bothered about it.

Cheers

PS know nothing about mechanics as you can tell

I think they all spit a bit of oil out of the joins in the various turbo pipes.

I have a little leak just down from the turbo, and also at the bottom of the Intercooler.

All seals have been checked and are fine.

just done a service on mine and the lower intercooler pipe (o/s/f undertray area) has oil mist on the joint , i'm not too concerned about that , but if it gets to be a drip or a boost leak i will sort it , i would get the garage to point out which hose is leaking then you can keep an eye on it , unless they want to change seals on warranty for you

what other things were on the list ? just interested

The other things were

Slight crack in wishbone bush?

Both rear door seals leaking water

Front door seal ripped

Front washer jets poor spray which they sorted

I told them about the door seals before it went in but they still did not repair them. Waiting for parts.

The pipes do tend to leak as when at rest the snap in pipes tend to relax a little and open up. When under boost though they lock up solid.

do they mean one of the oil supply pipes that feed oil to the turbo? it it is this then get it fixed as soon as possible

No a boost pipe.

RE:- Leak from Fabia VRS Turbo. 27/01/2009

Just taken car to dealers garage to check on oil leak coming from Intercooler and Turbo.

I was told it is engine oil escaping from rubber pipes/hoses where they join onto metal pipework, where oil is in a vapour/ fine mist form, and under pressure.

If clamps squeezing rubber hoses onto metal pipework were more tight, then escape of oil would be eliminated.

They added, as long as correct oil grade was used and oil level was maintained, there should not a problem. It is there view this is a common fault after some miles, but excessive leakage would mean new rubber hoses and pipe clamps.

Car has now covered 38,200 miles since new in June 2005.
