Featured Replies

Hi can anyone please tell me where I can get a towbar for a 2013 4x4 estate. I,be read that you need a certain type for the 4 wheel drive model. Thanks

Ive got a westpflia on mine and thats a 4x4. Mind you it came with it already fitted!

I,be tried googling it but no joy. I was wondering if perhaps they were fitted as standard when new

I think it's the same for 2wd or 4wd, I don't recall seeing anything on it that wouldn't work on a 4x4 when I fitted mine (OE Skoda).

Oh, I read some where that they were different. Perhaps that was the mk1, thanks

Mine came from Tow-Trust, a TS626VK detachable swan neck.  I bought it from disount towing supplies on ebay, but Tow-Trust's website page is here:

https://www.tow-trust.co.uk/towbars/skoda/superb/TS626VK-superb-est/2010+-+2015

I don't think there's any particular model for 4x4s (my 2012/61 plate is a 2.0 125kW 4x4) and the tow bar fitted fine.

(Edit: you're asking in the Superb MkII forum and you have an Octavia in your avatar - just checking, but for Octy's see here: https://www.tow-trust.co.uk/towbars/skoda/octavia)

That's right. And on mine the electric connection folds up out of sight too.

I bought and fitted a tow bar to my  2012 Superb 4 x 4 last year with a detachable swan neck. It doesn't swing up out of the way like the factory fitted tow bars.

The instructions that came with the tow bar said it fitted both the Superb hatch back  and estate as well as the Yeti.  I wonder if the model fitments differ between tow bar manufacturer /  tow bar design?

This the Ebay listing I bought the tow bar (generic tow bar photo) which now says it doesn't fit AWD or FWD ? I do remember messaging the seller and asking if it would fit my car and they confirmed it would.

Do the fixings of your towbar resemble those in the first or 3rd picture in the listing?

That is to say does it have plates that slide into the chassis rails and which are bolted laterally through very large holes (picture 3) or does it perhaps bolt onto the crash bar fixings (picture 1)?

My towbar gets a real lot of abuse and I have found the chassis rail fixing method on the Yeti and my 2 previous Octavias would become loose due to the clearance around the fixing bolts, the only way to mitigate it was to overtighten the fixings to death dishing the washers so that they deformed into the void between the bolt diameter and the clearance hole.

JR my tow bar resembles the 3rd photo. you remove the crash bar and and slide mounting arms down inside the chassis rail as you describe. It's had an easy life so far I've not done much towing with it. Biggest thing I've towed is a 6x4 single axle plant trailer  .

Some photos of my Tow Trust bar:

Nothing to see unless you get really low down:
