lumpy idle... please help !

Featured Replies

Hi guys looking for some help again please... gone to start her up and just got a really lumpy idle.... tried to drive and she was just really hesitant and lumpy... worse... when I tried to apply the brake the pedal was solid ! I had no brakes !!. The strangest part is once I pulled over and turned her off for 5 mins I started her up again and she was fine! No lumpy idle and drove like a dream again!!! ..I'm baffled !?..  I have seen maf sensors can cause a lumpy idle but no brakes !????.. any help would be much appreciated... thank you 🙏

With the brakes being affected, I would be looking for a split vacuum pipe

Thankyou... I am seeing this as I'm looking In to it... brake booster pipe fails too apparently that can cause it

there is a "y" plastic pipe valve in the vacuum line to the servo that can hairline crack in the valley of the y, might be worth giving it a check

Like others, I am thinking of vacuum lines. Particularly the ones with external fabric armour, because the rubber under the fabric can collapse and fail without any visible evidence.
