Finding garages which can access my Skoda service history

Featured Replies

I bought my Skoda Yeti (61 plate) a year ago. So I've just paid for it to be serviced at a local garage only to be told after the service has taken place that the garage can not access the service history. So they have no idea what has been previoulsy. Apparently the service history log book has beene replace by a chip in the key? The problem is that the nearest skoda dealer is in a very awkward location plus it is quite expensive. I have tried phoning local independent garages to see if they can access the service history and none of them know what I am talking about. What have other people done to ensure that their skoda is getting the correct servicing if they are unable to use a main dealer?

Plus how do people prove their service history to people buying the car second hand if they use independant garages? I've tried the my Skoda app but there no service history on it.

Was a copy of the service history not provided with the car at the point of sale?

Give the dealership a call, they should just print it out for you. It is also worth checking local VAG specialists, they should have access to the records and will update them if work is carried out through them.

You can buy blank service books online if you wish to have it serviced else where, or just keep the invoices as reference of the work.

I have found a VAG specialist who says they can access the VAG network for service history.

I've not used them yet, so I'll see how it goes.

A chip in the key has nothing to do with the Service History.  The VIN / Registration number is what is needed.

They just need to have the VW Licensed Equipment as many VW Independent Specialist do.

They get TPI's / Service Campaign info, some can do updates and even warranty work.

Skoda UK Customer Services can send you the Service Record, Service Campaign or Warranty history.

Even if someone on the phone says they can not.

Only what is on the system though.   Your car, your responsibility to keep safe and serviced.  Data Protection is to protect you, not someone that is at a desk someplace on a keyboard.
