Problems already

Featured Replies

Picked up the car on Monday, and can't get driver memory seat to memorise anything. Movement of seat is fine just wont accept memory. Tried out the fixes suggested on forum, seat right forward, fully back, height up and down and lumbar in and out. Still won't work. Took it back to dealer and fitter looked at it and confirmed it wasn't working. Booked in under warranty next week.

On my way home from dealer I stopped to put some fuel in, and when I took the filler cap off, there was a whoosh of air, as if there was a vacuum in the tank. Is this normal, never heard it on any other car.

Apart from that, the car is fine and my wife even said it was nice, which for her is praise indeed.

I get the whoosh after opening the petrol cap.

Hi BillyParker,

Glad the car is going under warranty for the seats. Regarding your question on filling up the tank. Yes - I've had that plenty of times on my old Octavia, and also my wife cars (Yaris). I think it maybe because  last time you filled up to the top and and now you are filling again, there must must a vacuum created somehow.... That is what I've noticed (ie filling to the brim) - it happen to me now and then and not all the time (I don't always fill to the brim). One thing is for sure - there is nothing wrong with that "whoosh" noise, just air going in (or out).

Have fun.

The dealer put in £25 of petrol when I got it as the fuel light was on, so probably not much more than 15ltrs in Tank. I've done about 30 miles max before I got fuel today and I only put in £30, jsut under 16ltr. But it was as you say, sounds like a vacuum in the tank. I thought a breathing tube had perhaps got blocked. I'll ask next week when its in.

When you put the seat all the way forward/back and it stopped, did you then push the switch forward/back again? I ask as it will travel a little more in both directions? If not, try this and then try setting the memory.

Big tank whooshing here too. Whooshing is normal.

Yes, put seat forward till it stopped then used switch again and it moved forward a bit more. Same with up and down, back rest and lumbar.

Although this thread is titled problems already, they are not massive problems, just little hiccups. Still love the car

And the ignition is on? Sorry to ask, but it’s sometimes the daftest things which are overlooked.

tried both on and off, and the fitter that looked at it did too. He also checked  what I think was the motor under the seat. Disconnected it for a minute and then back on again, as they can be like computers and need restarted, but no luck either.

I'm not too worried, i'll let them look at it next week  (Thursday) and post the outcome on here when its sorted.

Weird how these small parts can fail; the right-hand scroll wheel on the SW failed on the first day I had it on the 22nd March 2020, the day before lockdown and had to wait til late May to get it fixed under warranty.

Right hand scroll wheel is a common one - needs taking apart and the sensor cleaning

wooshing tank - normal, fuel vapours  can’t be vented to atmosphere anymore so the engine vacuum will pull a small tank vacuum

other than these small issues - hope you enjoy the car, they are pretty good on the reliability front.
