P0101 and P0299, limp mode....

Featured Replies

Hi guys, driving down to Devon on Friday and the car went into limp mode, think it was caused by going up a few very steep hills and the revs going high......

managed to limp home the 100 miles and just handed it over to the garage this morning, is this a new turbo or could it be just a MAF sensor issue..... Really don’t need a big garage bill at the moment.

cheers in advance..

Bob.

The answer to that depends entirely on whether your garage considers the customer as their benefactor and a cash cow.

My money is on an underboost caused by collapse of the vacuum tubing between the N75 valve and the turbo actuator, cost about £1, the high mileage MK1 Octavia I bought from my chauffeur friend had that as did a previous Alhambra but he had been rushed for thousands of pounds by the Skoda dealer for 2 new turbos and still the fault remained, they then trotted out the "if all else fails" diagnosis, it will need a new ECU at £XXX

Cheers...... If he says it’s a new turbo I’m getting a second opinion.....

Mechanic said it’s the EGR valve, it’s leaking..... cars done 181K so nothing surprises me on this car....

Forgot to mention..... Coolant has been leaking somewhere and also idles a bit rough so this could fix a few issues.

just to need to sell a kidney or four...!

I am told the egr valve can be removed and mapped out ( so the car doesn't complain that it is not responding) and that this has no detrimental effects at all.

I do not know this to be accurate or true though.
