AC is cooling when it is not actually turned on

Recommended Posts

Noticed that the AC is cooling intermittently when it is not actually turned on.

It's also been making some odd noises recently, coolant type noises rather than mechanical. This is intermittent too.

Is this one for Skoda garage or will a local garage be able to sort it?

Is AC actually coming on with a light showing or is there just cooling because you have Climate Control and a temperature set in the car.

What is the Temp set at in the car and what is the temperature outside?

If not a Skoda garage then i would thing a VW Independent that knows the cars.  You will need a diagnosis and a repair / regas or whatever if there is some fault.

Thanks - sorry some details missing:

Ours is manual AC not auto climate control.

The AC is cooling even when the AV button is showing as off.  Pressing on/off makes no difference, turning the fan to off  stops the airflow but I have no idea if the AC stops or not.

I'll pop it in to my local independent garage for a quick look. If they don't know then I'll find a VW independent specialist.

Many thanks.

Yes. Still cold.

This sounds like a flap problem.

How long have you had the car?

With mine:-

The AC works all the time but only at 6.0 % if the AC button is off. ( AC noises )

Mine will blow cool some times even if the AC button is off.

Especially if you turn the fan on after you have been driving for a while.

The AC will turn itself on automatically if various parameters are met.

Thanks, AG Falco

Had the car from new, June 2017.

My local mechanic said he'll 'plug the car in' tomorrow to see there's any error logs. Hopefully one will be spotted and easy to remedy.

Thank you :)
