Infotainment don't recognize status of ignition

Featured Replies

Hello, I'm having a problem with my Superb -17.

The infotainment don't recognize status of the ignition.

Symptoms:

- Display won't turn on and off automatically

- Revers camera wont show

- I don't see any car data while driving.

Except this I don't have any problems with the car.

First the problem came and went less frequently but now the problem occurs all the time.

I don't have any wiring diagram. So hopefully any of you could give me help regarding this.

Sounds like it's not seeing the Infotainment CAN connection - all those things send messages over that.

Time to check the connections at the back of the main infotainment unit, and if it's not that get a fault code scan done.

Is the car standard or have modifications and retrofits been made?

When did it start happening?

Any changes made?

Have you checked for any fault codes?

Wiring diagrams arent gonna do you much good without knowing what youre looking for, there is clearly power and ground as you can manually turn it on but there are many possible causes for communication issues.

Something tells me that something isnt standard?

As far as I know and see everything  is original.

I've own the car for 6 months.  The problem started about 1 months ago.
I haven't checked any fault codes.

Older car used to have a separate 12 v signal when the ignition  was turned on. I was thinking something similar on this car.

But maybe this is not the case with the skoda.

Anyway, that's why I asked for a wiring diagram.

The official source is Erwin: https://erwin.skoda-auto.cz

The headunit uses CAN-bus for the power on/off messages so there is no longer a switched ignition feed.

Googling for a mib2 quadlock pin out will give you the basics like power, ground, CAN high and CAN low pins.

It does sound like a data (CANBUS) communication issue. If you can’t communicate with the infotainment unit from the OBD port this would confirm it.

You could try a hard reset of the infotainment system. Not sure if /how it can be done with the newer touch screen versions, but if you have the original screen with a mechanical on/off volume knob then holding down the on/off knob for about 10 seconds makes it reset itself.
