Will a sachs sre smf clutch & pressure plate fit and work on standard sachs dmf?

Featured Replies

Hi I've recently been offered a sachs sre smf clutch plate & pressure plate cheap that hasn't seen much use

My question is as above would it fit on standard sachs dmf?

Has anyone ever done this?

(& yes I know it's not ment to be used with dmf but I can't find a sachs smf for sale anywhere on its own, only part of a kit)

** I ask because I've read of people using rigid plates on smf? so why can't it work the other way round?

Of course I understand the smf clutch plate will be thicker than the dmf one but if it fits then surely it would work?

Would like to hear of any thoughts or experience of anyone ever doing this who is in the same position as I'm in

Or any suggestion as to what smf could ve used that will work

If possible I'd rather keep dmf as I've read some bad things about smf, I'd rather avoid doing it unless I really have to

If it fits then it will work, you need to check and compare all the dimensions first though.

Thanks for the reply sep, is hard for me to do that without buying it, seen lots of pictures, I know the 240mm dimensions correct but the thickness of it is another matter?

Looks to be a good thickness on it even though its been used

where new sre are listed on the Internet nothing is said about the plate thickness of either the versions of sre ?

I could save alot of money if it does fit,

New just the sre organic clutch plate & pressure plate is at least £677 + delivery

I could buy the same for just £150 delivered

Would still need to buy correct bolts & clutch release bearing

Do you think it's worth risking it?

Sachs will have technical drawings showing critical dimensions, send them an email at tech support asking for the drawings, tell them it's for a motorsport project and that you'll be buying new Sachs parts. They should be able to help.

That's a great idea

I will give them a try now, if I can get those drawings then I'll soon be able to tell if this will work or not

Thankyou sep
