For those who like Google Earth...

Got shown this today and was quite impressed by the detail and also the different angles you can view things from :D

For those of us at work and have nosey coleagues ;) - what is it ?

Pictures are *very* out of date.

My house has still got all the shrubs in the front garden that I took out 5 years ago...

i just get a blank page

More out of date than I first thought... The gym I joined when it first opened in January 2001, is still a field!

:D

Interestingly, I checked where I work and can see my Mondeo (owned just under a year) in its regular parking space in the car park so I guess some of the maps are more up to date than others :D Hard to tell on my houses as none of my cars appear to be near them :D

Oh and Phil, just click the link and all will be revealed ;)

Check both of the factories I was working in around the late 90's and one is deserted, which fit's because they closed it in 97/98 but othe factory is quite empty as well, suggesting the shots for Peterborough were done at a weekend.

Just speaking to Tigger who says that the aerial views are out of date for his area, but that the bird's eye ones are much more recent....

Chris

Well the aerial photo of my parents town is interesting. The supermarket which was build 10 years ago is there yet my parent's house doesnt have the huge extension they build 20 years ago !

My old airfield is up to date (even found a car on the taxi way, but its not me)

The house we just sold has a white van in the driveway - so I wonder if that's us moving in/out ?

The aerial photo round where I work is pretty upto date.

Just looked at our area and there is still a car show room that has been closed now for about 2 years

The Photos around me are about 5 I think years old, but i have managed to date them to a saturday in early July.

I tend to use google maps, the images are better quality (better than google earth too for some reason), the photos on there are generally apparently more recent as well.

The current Microsoft Vs. Google battle could create numerous interesting applications etc. like this

Google Earth isn't detailed for my town yet this Microsoft effort is. There's no cars outside of my work and I can't find my car outside my house or any relatives houses, so I was obviously away that weekend! On my mates GF farm there is a road that is no longer there, i've known her about four years or so and have never seen even any evidence of the road being there.

Looking at my house there is a sand-pit in the back garden that was removed by the previous occupants around 6-7 years ago accoring to our neighbours!!!!! The google earth version seems to be more recent and taken the year before we moved in to the house...... Mind you that'll be four years this October!!!!!

Cheers

Dave.
