Help with new shocks for Octavia mk3

Recommended Posts

Hi!
I have Skoda Octavia VRS mk3, 2013.
Pre-fl, 2.0tdi 135kw, fwd.
It has multi-link suspension at the back.
Im a fresh owner and don't know about Skodas that much.
The date on the shocks are form 2013 and shock body is a bit rusty also, milage is 195k. Meanwhile car itself is in superb oder.
Car wallows a bit on highway and i think its a good time to refresh the suspension.
Im looking a set of Bilstein b4 and in the future Eibach pro-kit.
Springs i found and seems to be E10-79-010-02-22.
But i need help with shocks.
Rear ones has a marking of 500512011HP.
Front ones has 5Q0 412 037 JR.
Can somebody please help me find codes for B4, front and back?

There are no shock absorbers shown on autodoc when a search is carried out using either 5Q0412037JR or 500512011HP.

Therefore, these are not likely to be the OEM part numbers of the shock absorbers that the car left the factory with.

If you're looking for aftermarket parts for things like shock absorbers, it's best to get a full list of the car's build codes.

It's very important for the OEM part number of each of your car's shock absorbers to be stated in the listing for the aftermarket shock absorber. That way, the shock absorber manufacturer is saying that their aftermarket shock absorber will fit your car.

You can get the car's build codes on ebay for about 3 Euros. Search "skoda vin decoder" on ebay, to find the listing.

"erwin skoda" is another alternative, but that costs about 7 Euros for 1 hour's access which should be enough time to download the data.

A build code is made up of 3 letters and/or number, such as 1JA 2UC, etc. Each VAG car might have a total of around 180 build codes. You can use "vw codes decoder" to decode the build codes.

2UC Sports suspension

L18 front springs

5Q0411105HE

G03 front shock absorbers

5Q0413023FH (50mm struts)

5Q0413023FJ (50mm struts)

5Q0413023FK (50mm struts)

5Q0413031FP (55mm struts)

Are the struts on your front shock absorbers 50mm or 55mm? Because your car was manufactured before 25.05.2015 it would appear from the Skoda parts catalogue that your front shock absorbers have 55mm struts.

You are only showing about 45 build codes. This is not the full list, as your car might have around 180 build codes.

Can you get a printout of all your build codes from a local Skoda dealer if you don't want to go the ebay or "erwin skoda" route?

H7D4UPAR4

PR Codes for these need spaces, 3x characters

PRCode: 4UP = Driver's and front passenger air bag with knee air bag and front passenger air bag deactivation
PRCode: AR4 = Reserved for line marking
PRCode: H7D = Tires 225/40 R18 92Y xl

If you like, chuck a batch in here http://prsearch.planetvag.com/

Edit: @jimboJonessorry quoted your post by mistake, I realise that it's @VenomVrs list, though perhaps you now have a nice website you can use to decode them now.

Edit: I can see why my eye was drawn to the post, you seemingly decoded H7D4UPAR4 as H7D4UP4R4?  Could be a typo from VenomVrs 👌

Edit: Sleep needed
