There are three different sized rear brake discs on the Octavia MK3. Which size is fitted depends on the build code for the rear brakes. Build code 1KD is for the 253x10mm rear discs. Build code 1KS or 1KT is for the 272x10mm rear discs. Build code 1KW is for the 310x22mm rear discs. They are all TRW brake systems, but they use different brake pads as shown below.

Wow. I wasn’t expecting such a comprehensive reply. Thank you! The trouble I now have is determining the build code. Any easy way of finding this out? Picture of what’s on it at the moment. Could have been changed from oem before my ownership as the cars on £60k miles with very little lip on the disks.

Have a look in your owners manual, there should be a sticker placed in it with all the different option codes for your specific car, top row 5th from left is the brakes option.

The big 310x22mm rear discs are ventilated and only fitted to the 2.0 petrol 245HP VRS model.

 

The 253x10mm and 272x10mm rear brake discs are solid.

 

Have you got a white label in the spare wheel well area under the carpet with some of the build codes on? If so, just take a photo and post it up.

 

Unfortunately, Skoda may have stopped fitting those white labels under the carpet in the spare wheel well area around 2015/16 so you might not have one.

 

Another way to tell is too measure the outside diameter of the rear brake discs.

 

It should be easy to tell the difference between a 253mm and 272mm diameter.

 

From your photo it looks like you have 253x10mm rear brake discs because of the shape of the brake pads.

 

What engine do you have?

I can’t get in the boot at the moment as it’s chocka block with work tools. Looks like solid 253 disks.

Yep, that's it. 5th from the left, top row, '1KD' is your brake option.
