Steering wheel problem

Featured Replies

I have a 2004 superb 1.9 TDI which had a normal steering wheel. The horn stopped working and a airbag light came on so I changed the squib behind the wheel.I must have damaged the airbag getting it off so the horn was randomly going off when driving so I got another steering wheel and airbag for it.Since fitting it I now have no horn again and the Airbag light is still on.The new wheel is a multifunction one which I get the buttons won't work but the horn should work at least?Dose the wheel need coding to the car or should they just work?the car has been fitted with cruise control on the stalk already.I just need to get it through the mot.

Cheers

I'm pretty sure the airbag light will never clear by itself, all airbag faults I believe are "sticky" and once set will not go away until you clear them with diagnostics.  This is to prevent what could be deadly intermittent faults being overlooked.
