Headlight adjustment??

Featured Replies

Evening peeps,,

think tonight is the first time I’ve driven with headlights on 🤣,,,

what I think I’m seeing is that when driving up to another it looks like my passenger side headlight is a bit Māori dazzling then the drivers ?? I look on the floor and it seems like the beam is higher up on the road,, they both adjust with dial ok but is it possible to manually lower the beam ?? As it feels like pass side is dazzling on coming traffic

thanks peeps

oh if park upto a wall it does seem like pass side is a tad higher on the wall than drivers

Check each bulb is actually fitted correct when cooled off, and daytime 😆

Some person may have chucked a bulb in and not secured it, if they are all seated correct, then you can make adjustments.

That sounds about right, there is a technical term for it and is intentional to illuminate further on the left in the UK to help spot other road users/hazards.

I suppose I could wait till December for MOT and ask them to check it for me. But when they shine on the road it’s almost like the pass beam is shining a lot further down the road 🤣I’d say about 2 foot tired to get a photo but you can’t really tell C39015A4-1476-491E-924F-3AE3A4DBCBE4.thumb.png.9224b73772a3ceef3edd4f9bcfdef6fb.png

They do look normal to my eyes, and yes on a RHD the left headlight will project futher to illuminate path and signs.

On top of each headlight should be a % mark, and this is the drop of the light beam, say you have 1%, then every 100cm in front of the car, you should have a 1cm drop of height from starting height of the bulb.

If you are on 1%, and height is 50cm off the ground to the bulb, then in theory you should project beam to 50m.

Bit hard to say exactly as I am not with your car, but that shot of the road to me makes the aim seem too low for my own taste, if the road is climbing up then it will shorten beam throw of course.

Cheers mate,,

road is pretty flat and because I think it’s to high on pass side I’ve turned the switch/dial adjuster to number 2 so it’s not even further down the road 🤣,, that’s only because I’m thinking it’s  dazzling oncoming cars 🤣🤣,,

I just dearnt drive with the dial on number 1 coz the beam just seems way down the the road 🤣🤣,, if you get me

Usually 0 is for driver and low fuel, as you input fuel or extra passengers this should be dialled to 1, 2 or 3 as needed.

At least this is my own take on the levels.

I wouldn't want to drive your car on a dark country road myself 😬

A friendly MOT tester would be handy to be able to assist.

I’d dial it to its highest if I did 🤣,,, and say b****cks to on coming traffic 🤣

To be fair, it does to my eyes look like your beams barely reach 2 or 3 car length's.

Hopefully you can tick this off your list of things to sort out.
