Help needed for timing chain

Featured Replies

Hello,

so I have owned my Octavia mk2 1.4tsi for a couple of years now without any problems at all, however last month my water pump failed and leaked water all over the driveway, having fitted a new pump and belt, soon after driving it the eml came on and the code P0016 came up.

I have taken a photo of the cams from the cover side on the right, is this badly out of time?
many thanks for any advice.

Can't tell from a photograph; you need to measure cam timing to single degrees. So you need a dial gauge or a vernier to measure to the required accuracy.

Ah, ok so you can’t tell if it is massively out of timing from the picture?
thanks for your help.

No I just took off the covers to see if they the timing looked out before I bought any sensors, it won’t start at all now.
