Current Delivery time for Petrol only models?

Featured Replies

We are looking at a new Petrol VRS to replace the wifes current 4 year old model. 1st choice was a 1.4 hybrid plug in but that's not happening any time soon due to various well publicised issues. So the question is: how long would we be waiting for the 2.0 petrol DSG with no options? Searching the 150+ page delivery thread shows a lottery of different answers. Dealers are saying anywhere between 4 - 7 months? I guess i'm looking for another data point to help understand the real picture. Many thanks!

When I ordered my petrol VRS (with minimal options - spare wheel and rear wiper) last October I was quoted 6-7 months. They now send me a video each month where a girl from the dealer lets me know that my car’s status is “No Build”, which she says is normal.

My PCP contract on my current VRS finishes next March and I’m resigned to an expectation that my new car will probably still be in the No Build category. While, clearly, I like the model, if I were you I’d order something else or assume that you’ll have an eighteen month wait. Who knows, you might get a pleasant surprise and get it before the end of next year!

Realistically probably better thinking 12-14 months, and not 6-7 months per sales patter.

You can always tell if salesman is telling you what you want to hear if you play with the argument and put a test scenario there way, something like saying : so you would be happy to knock 2% off price for every month beyond your highest estimate, if I signed today.

Pause about 10 seconds then ask if would like to revise delivery estimate.

Wow not good. 😬

7 month wait for me with about 8 aditional options in Lithuania. But I hear in the UK waiting time is a little bit longer

Well, I ordered in Jan this year and have a build date of last week of October. Realistic that's the new year so at least 12 months.

At least you have a build date. What model have you ordered?

I ordered my Petrol VRS Hatch with DSG, DCC and Winter Pack mid February '22. I have an 'unconfirmed' build week of Week 39 (week commencing 26th Sept '22). The word 'unconfirmed' means that I'm not holding my breath 🙂

VRS 245

I assume the build date will slip.

I ordered a 245 vrs in Jan this year and still had no build date. As my pcp ran out this month I phoned around the dealerships and picked up a new one yesterday after cancelling my initial order. Dealers were so helpful must be a nightmare for them

In this month’s video update from my dealer, there appears to be good news. My car should be built in the coming week.😳

I say appears to be good news because the caveat on the video was that it may be built incomplete as a result of shortages of parts. I expect a update in about a week’s time.

Fingers crossed✌️

Petrol vRS (manual) with pano roof and Canton ordered July ‘21, delivered Dec ‘21. I’m thinking I got very very lucky.

I ordered Sept 2021 and it's due mid Oct. vRS estate petrol manual. I was specific about colour spec etc as that's part of buying new IMO.

I knew I was in for a wait, so being British decided to get in the queue nice and early. Wasn't bargaining on 13 months though!

This week’s video update from the dealer tells me the car is now at Emden.

The girl on the video tells me this is great news and, as usual, thanks me for my patience. No indication however of ETA from Emden.

I’m assuming an end October completion to make it a nice round twelve months!

Dealer emailed me to say I would get a car in 5 months now. Still not sure I believe him with the anecdotes on these forums...

I will be collecting my new car on Wednesday 26th, almost exactly one year from ordering it.

The dealer did tell me, ironically I think, that cars were “flying off the shelves”.

I’ll ask on Wednesday whether they now have a clearer view on delivery dates.

I've got a 1.5 DGS petrol being on order for 14+ months already and no build dates. That said, my config has quite a lot of 'problematic' options, thus this may be the reason for delays beyond any reason :)

I'd dare a guess that if you're ordering some more common configuration it will be somewhere between 8-12 months. I would not trust the dealer on 5 months at all.

I know you are not after a plug in hybrid, but thought it would be good for you to know, I ordered Jan 22 a Skoda Octavia 1.4 TSI IV SE Technology plug in hybrid. No optional extras, solid blue paint. Been told to expect it on or after June 2023. 18 month + wait.

Yeah so, we are just going to try and find a lightly used vehicle this time around 😅

Don’t know where you’re based but they’re selling my 19 reg VRS with 15k on the clock at £22,295 at my dealer. One careful owner 😂

I am thinking of selling my 2021vrs due to ill health the car has done 7900mls. It has reversing camera, blackvue dash cam and tracker. Mint condition. Cost with the extras was 34k. Offers leicestershire.

Shame its the devils fuel or I would make you an offer!

About to cancel my order.   Given the no end date or confirmation of any potential date it is time to move on

Based on what I've just read, I'm guessing the estimate of 16 weeks my dealer quoted may be a little optimistic then...

Still better than the 48-52 weeks they quoted for a couple of Superb specs I'm also dithering over.

13months and counting for auto.
