Ultimate MK1 Octavia VRS

Featured Replies

When I joined Briskoda shortly after the Jurassic Period (2007), I became a avid reader of the forum and followed the exploits of many pioneer's who were doing mods/improvements to their MK1 Octy VRS.

One person stood out, taking his Mk1 to a whole new level, his avatar name "Steevie Wonder". I seem to remember he removed the vrs rear badge and stuck something like "Octavia 1600" in its place ☺️

Here is a list of the mods he did :-

I too remember those heady days as I joined in 2006. I recall people like Mr Wonder as they modified what were relatively new cars at the time.

My black Mk1 vRS was new from the dealership in March 2006 so was under warranty until 2009, which seems crazy for a Mk1. By the time I could modify it, most things had been done many times.

Things are in a very different era now. This was highlighted to me recently when R Tech said they would no longer tune the 1.8t 20v engine as it is too old. 😔

Still, if phrases such as 'Like a king' echo around Briskoda from time to time there's still hope for us old timers.

I remember you my friend and Chicken Eyebrow, Bowders, etc. I remember taking mine for a test drive it was 1 year old with 9k on the clock, I could not believe how fast a 5 door heavy Hatchback could go.

It still brings a smile, that says it all.

You might remember this :-

I actually do remember that video. 😁

It looks reasonably quiet on the track compared to some of the videos I see nowadays. I've yet to go myself as work, family etc seems to take up all my free time...

Anyway, I'm still plugging away with a Mk1 and will keep doing so as long as possible. 👍

What a spec. My track day MK1 pales by comparison.

Do you know what the BHP and torque were from that car?

Hi Phil,

Nice to know the early enthusiasts are still around and carrying the flag 👍.

Mine was second hand and 6 months old when I bought it .
