Hi Nick, I'm curious - what happened?

Not all E10 / 95 ron Unleaded sold in the UK has as much as 10% bio.

But then not all E5 Super Unleaded is the same around the UK.

Usually use Shell with the odd Texaco if I cant be arsed to drive the extra 5 minutes

@Nick_H

So i take it if back to 99 ron then you will not be using Texaco.

?

What happened with you running the E10, poorer MPG, or performance with the engine misbehaving?

I assume by that is that you felt that there was a significant drop in performance - did your consumption also go up?

Guys ... Nor sure about consumption I've only done about a quarter of a tank as I've had Covid but I don't really check it.

Engine feels rough with a marked drop in performance. I only put it in as a test and I certainty have the answer. I have a mate who has an S3 who swears he cant tell the difference.

Next tank will feel like a free remap :D

@Nick_H  Just out of interest, when was that tank filled with E10 then if you have had covid.

(Formulation does get changed Summer & Winter.)

It is more hygroscopic.

Not good for having in a tank like tens of thousands of used cars have sitting unsold since last year. (Petrols & Diesels.)

There was still Winter Spec E5 or E10 in the UK until March and mid October winter spec Petrol starts getting delivered in the UK starting in Scotland and the North of England.

Lovely stuff at Tesco / Esso quite often in the North.

Momentum 99 ron Minimum, and that can be at times during the winter from Continental Europe and 100 / 100+ ron.

The same can happen with other retailers Super Unleaded that is not coming in as a Base Fuel.

Great post I didn't know about winter and summer ! ... Filled up just before I was pos so just over 2 weeks.

You can’t get 99 octane easily in Northern or Southern Ireland, so when I go there I use this, which does do what it says on the bottle and is far more effective than the Redex I’d previously used.

I'm sure that millers is good stuff but I won't be using it. They need numbers to back up the octane claims and alarm bells ring when in 2 places on the same page they claim different increases.

I had to run a tank of 95 when the shortages a few months ago meant that Tesco didn't have 99. Hard to be 100% certain it wasn't psychological but the car didn't feel 'right' to me either - especially climbing up a particular hill that I often drive up.

I'm now using CostCo's premium stuff which is 97RON and it seems happy with that - no noticeable loss in feel nor change in consumption and this morning it was only 157.7.

Suit yourself, but having run the 280 on E10 and E10 with Millers, I can assure you it works. But I agree that their material is both confusing and inaccurate, including stating it is a one-shot product too; the proof reader must’ve been on holiday or they’re just useless! That type of sloppiness drives me mad, so I sent them an email pointing out their errors and they’ve now corrected the text on their website.

Good work! 👍
