Fabia II Estate, Passengers side water leak - Fresh air intake flap

Featured Replies

Hello fellow Briskodians, I'm wondering if any of you lovely people have seen a water leak on the passenger side of your Fabia II which appears to be coming from the fresh air intake vent.

Both front and read footwells on my 2011 1.2TSI estate are soaking wet.  I took out the passenger seat last week and hoovered out as much of the water as I could. So far I have checked

Door Seals

Washer Pipe

Passenger side bulkhead drain

Cabin filter

The wetness goes all the way up the back behind the glove box, so I did look at the fresh air vent which looked a bit suspect. although it was closed.  When I tested the heater, the flap opened but when the car is switched off, it seems to remain open, So i'm wondering if just needs a spray of lubricant or something else which isn't too tricky?

Bit of a pain as it means the car isn't really useable just now as its just running with condensation all the time.  I think its been like this for a wee while but I'd not checked the carpet.

If further info is needed or pics, let me know and thanks for any advice!

Do you have a sunroof? They are prone to leaking in to cabins on some cars.

No sunroof on this one so one less thing to worry about !

Leakage through the cabin air intake can only really happen if the scuttle drains are blocked.

Well that’s what I was expecting. But the one at the front right hand side of the car as you look under the bonnet is clear. The water runs out and onto the passengers wheel. The driver side is bone dry.  So would there be another drain I could check then ?

No, just the two. In that case maybe the shroud is missing over the intake orifice. Not sure mk2 is the same as mk1, will have a look on parts diagram next time I get up.
