Featured Replies

Hi all I have a 2007 Skoda fabia and the abs light comes on beeps 3 times then goes off it don’t happen all the time but now it’s started doing the abs light and I’m loosing power steering again just for a few seconds I have had a OBD done but it’s not showing up anything does anyone have any ideas please what the problem is.
many thanks in advance

This sounds like a charging problem, you need to check the alternator field and sense wires where they pass through a connector next to the gearbox, from your description one or both of these is almost completely fractured but not quite.

It's not the battery, it's the wiring to the alternator.

Oh ok I’m taking it back to a garage tomorrow if I can get it in when they done the OBD it come up a sensor which I had replaced but I will mention what you said thank you so much it’s so frustrating and my partner drives it so as you can imagine when you loose power steering and the lights go off ect only for a few seconds it’s dangerous

Sorry all I forgot to mention as well sometimes the passenger side electric window won’t work from the passenger side but does from the drivers side if that makes sense and the radio lights will go dim ect

You didn't say the cars lights go off, this is starting to sound like an earth fault now.

I strongly advise you to use an auto electrician rather than a garage, you can't diagnose and repair this yourself, a sparks can probably come to the car and fix it quickly and cheaply.
