Skoda Assistance Scam

Featured Replies

I have a 2 year warranty on my skoda and the battery was failing after heavy rains.  I phoned skoda assist to see whether this was covered under my warranty.  They said yes and had it towed to the nearest skoda dealership - they diagnosed that it was infact the battery and that it would cost €420 and that wasn't under warranty.  I said I was told by skoda assist it was .... they went off to check and came back and said yes it was so fine yes go ahead with the work - one week later and I still dont have my car and they are now saying again that it isnt under warranty.  At this point I said I would just take back my car but they still want to then charge €270 for the diagnostics.  The manager has been too busy to speak to me all week !!! I feel completely scammed by skoda assist and the Annesley Williams skoda dealership.  My local garage gave me a quote of €230 for the work and parts with a 3 hour turn around - utterly disappointed with Skoda - great car but terrible scam service

Have you tried actually reading the warranty instead of relying on phone calls to people who may well not know exactly what it says?

You need to read your warranty T&C's,

as it's a used car, so therefore not a factory warranty the battery may well not be covered under the 3rd party warranty as many aren't worth the paper they are written on.

I've been through this with Mini, the used warranty can say (as mini's does) "battery is covered" no exclusions etc. When you ask a dealer.. "oh no it depends".
If you're not happy tell them to put the old battery back in and take the car somewhere cheaper.

If they've dumped the old battery before having an agreement to do the work then you will be having a different conversation with them.
