Gearbox oil in 2011 1.6 Octavia, 5 speed manual

Featured Replies

Hi all. My 2011 Octavia needed a gearbox oil change. Got the draining done no problem. When it came to filling though, the oil comes straight back out again. Any help or suggestions greatly appreciated. Am using the correct pump

You are using the higher side fill hole I'm assuming ?  I'm just imagining you filling via the bottom drain bolt.

Always when I've changed gearbox oil there are 2 bolts. A drain on the bottom and a fill higher up.

The procedure has always been release the fill bolt, as not being able to fill later would be an issue. Remove drain bolt, drain and refit. Fill via fill hole until it comes out of that fill level height. Spin gearbox and recheck fill level.

Also important to have the car dead level front-to-back and side-to-side.

How much came out when you drained it?

Using the side fill hole. The car was not level, maybe that's the issue. Most if not all of it came back out

I would check the engine oil level on your dipstick before starting the engine 🤣
