No power steering - Potential new rack??

Featured Replies

Any update on this situation? I have a similar issue with both battery and rack so I'd be keen to see if you found the solution or changed the rack. Hope you got sorted, thanks!

Yep, I ended up having to change the rack, and had a new battery put in at the same time. Tried everything possible to avoid it but ultimately the rack had failed.

My octy had a gen 7 rack in it (not sure why) a better rack apparently but new from vw they're £1600!

I got a reconditioned one from PSR direct for £350! 2 year warranty and they were absolutely brilliant to deal with, really recommend using them.

Cars been fine since 🤞

Ah nice one cheers! I'll do the same, glad all is running well and cheers for the update

Nice to get an update and a good conclusion. I had a steering angle sensor  low voltage code come up, C1144602. cleaned the contacts on the rack cured

Wish they were all that simple

To update I had a similar issue, new/2nd hand rack has fixed it. No need for a battery for me just needed to code the sas as expected. Cheers all 🤙

I've read this thread with interest, I don't have a completely failed rack but I have a clunking lock to lock which the garage have diagnosed as as a failing rack. I looked at PSR Direct/ Lion Automotive as had been quoted over £1600 from TPS. Did you send them yours or did they have one in stock? Is yours a VRS?
