Škoda superb DSG sound when shifting from 3rd to 4th

Featured Replies

Hello,

I have Škoda Superb L&K 1.5 TSI DSG MY2021 with less than 30.000 kilometres.

Last week I have noticed strange sound happening more and more often when shifting from 3rd to 4th with moderate acceleration. It sounds like something metallic screams under the hood, high frequency metallic noise. I have recorded it it is easier to listen than to describe it:)

Could you please help me what this could be? Car is in warranty I have scheduled appointment for tyre changing I a few days and would like to get there prepared. Thank you!

Report to an authorised repairer, so a Skoda main dealer ASAP and have their technician do their job.  Do not have a salesperson drive it and tell you they all do that.

I have Reported this, but I will have to wait weeks to get date to check it.

Did you get a reply on this? Mines started making the same noise!

They have tried to solve it with software update (LOL). It did not work of course. I have sold this car to the same company that sold me car. Because of all issues I had with it. But please do let me know what you find out. I am curious.

Im taking it to be looked at soon, will let you know the outcome.

Internet seems to suggest it’s the clutch pack…

My conclusion was similar. But I had less than 30.000 km. 😕 How much mileage do you have?

49,000miles, crazy how the clutch would need replacing so soon!

They should not need replacing at 49,000 miles.   In the UK the DSG clutches are not excluded in the manufacturers warranty. So 3 years cover, or 4 or 5 if the extension was purchased.      With DQ381 DSG,s there are growing amounts with issues being reported or posted about it.  If DQ200,s in newer cars are having issues again  then time for Skoda / VW to be finding out once again where they are getting things wrong.    It can not always be blamed on driver error.

Hello, all.

Did anyone get this fixed? I have the same problem on my Karoq 2021.

@pzagor2Welcome.

What do you have a FWD 1.5 TSI ACT DSG?

How many miles or km & how long have you had it?

Mine sounds somewhat similiar sometimes but only when it’s ambient cold and been doing it for years, so I just put it down to things heating up because it only makes the sound for 1 second around 2k rpm for the first 2-3 minutes from first starting

If yours is doing it all the time then it’ll be something different

It's a 2.0 / TDI Automatic 85 kW front-wheel drive. I bought the car from a Skoda dealer in 2021 (new). Right now, it has 88,000 km, but I started to hear the sound at around 60000km.

I don't hear the sound every time. In my case, I don't think it's cold vs. warm, but how much I accelerate. Usually, when I'm dynamically accelerating around the corner, the car shifts from 3rd to 4th gear is when I hear it. At the service shop, I asked them to change the oil in the gearbox, but they told me this gearbox does not have an oil replacement interval and that it should never be changed.

So a 115ps 2.0 TDI with a DQ200 DSG (7 speed twin dry clutch )

The Oil can be changed. 2 oils, in the box and in the MCU, but there is no Service Schedule.

It can be changed, there is no NEVER SHOULD IT BE CHANGED.

I doubt that the Oil is the issue though.

You need to visit an Automatic Specialist that knows about DSG,s.

Just wondering if anyone got a resolution to this problem?

I'm getting the exact same symptoms as the OP on my 2019 1.5 TSI

I still have not been able to get this fixed or even diagnosed. The service shop reset my gearbox's electronics, but that did not help.

For now, I'm just driving with music on and volume on high.
