Hello all

I bought a 2017 Skoda Scout diesel 2 months ago, and what a great car it is.

Just recently retired I wanted to go back to the mountains of Europe where I used to climb etc when I was young and immortal. Age has made me realise that 1) I'm not immortal, 2) I can't move like I used to and 3) there is a lot of ground to cover.

We looked around at expedition trucks and these huge autocaravanas and decided they were too big, expensive and specialised so looked at 4x4 estates and decided the Scout was good.  Trip to local dealer who had had their first Scout taken in part chop on their forecourt as yet unprepared. Checked colour was OK with the wife and a deal was struck.

I don't know anything about specs but as far as I can see this is the standard UK diesel Scout with a big glass sunroof & Westphalia tow ball.

Just got back from 6 weeks mostly in the north Spanish mountains going up some very steep and narrow tracks where its best properties were

1) the extra 3cm ride height

2) underbody protection

3) hill descent control

4) Haldex

And in the continuous hot weather - the sunroof.

 

3.5k miles later and this quick purchase has proved to be excellent. Likely add a hard shell roof tent and bike carrier on the tow ball.

Sounds like you're enjoying it.  I've a pano roof, but don't tend to use it in hot weather, relying on the aircon instead to stop me from evaporating.
