Lifting a Yeti ... but by how much ?

Featured Replies

@Expatman Beauty is in the eye of the beholder!. Maybe the Yeti has to actually get up Farm Tracks with a hump in the middle and not just look like it can but can not.

I can understand that, but the Yeti would have spent many thousands of hours in development of its suspension, road holding, safety etc. I get concerned when major changes are made to a vehicles suspension, centre of gravity etc, all without comprehensive testing in real world safety conditions. There are many higher riding vehicles available in their original form designed for situations you describe, those are designed for higher ride height - unlike a modified Yeti. I am sure it will be okay in most situations but it is the critical situations where the roadholding could be compromised with who knows what results that should worry other road users.

Well the Blue Light Services vehicles got Uprated suspension by 'Eibach'. Skoda Approved. Fabia vRS got Dealer fit Eiback lowering springs as an option. Many many Modified 4x4,s and AWD,s are out as Rescue Vehicles now with Mountain Rescue, Cave Rescue, Coast Guard, Recovery vehicles etc etc. Farm & Quarry and all sorts of Commercial Use. Camper vans as well. There are many VW Commercials now camper vans that are lifted. If it worries you, just do not do it. If it worries others, so what. Get the vehicle properly converted, insured and if required SVA,d. As far as capable vehicles for going off road that are affordable,.they are few and far between, and not all even that reliable / suitable for easy of use and repair.
