Oil filter housing.

Recommended Posts

Well, my local garage has now managed to price themselves out of doing my basic servicing, and so it's back to DIY.

It's a 2012 Yeti 2.0 diesel, can anyone tell me what size socket I need to open the oil filter housing? I believe its 32mm, but as I will have to buy one, it's better to double check

Many thanks

2011 2.0 TDI...

Air filter - £7.06 (Napa - Ebay)
Fuel filter - £7.13 (Napa - Ebay)
Oil filter - £6.72 (Napa - Ebay)
Pollen filter - £7 odd (Can't recall brand - Halfords)
Oil - £35.00 (Castrol Edge 5w30 - Halfords)

Took me an hour or so. No 'specialist' tools required. 32mm socket (for the oil filter cap) is the only item not in the average socket set. Torx keys/bits for the air and fuel filter housings.

How did you get on bleeding the fuel filter?
I see Carista now has a run fuel pump setting to prime the fuel filter in the Beta app.

So the day before I was going to do my oil change it decided to spit all of its gearbox oil onto the drive.

Its now languishing at my local garage in disgrace.

So they may as well change the oil as well.

I had no need to bleed/prime filter.

Remove Torx bolts.

Prise off housing lid with something like a flat-blade screwdrIver (there's a small indentation/lip to insert prising tool to get started).

Remove old filter from the pot, holding it above to allow any fuel to drain back into the pot (waste not...want not).

Insert new filter, replace O-ring on lid (new one should be supplied with filter).

Reposition lid and evenly press down into position (a relatively firm press required).

Replace and evenly tighten Torx bolts.

Job done.

Pretty much as shown here:

Housing lid looks different in this video, but procedure is the same.
