Hi all,

 

Just bought a 2015 Octavia with 40k miles on. Noticed now it has a whistling noise when accelerating and when it’s in gear also be it fairly quiet. Seems to go away when put in neutral and on idle - doesn’t seem to affect performance at all!

Does this noise increase in frequency (from whistle to a mild rumble) when accelerating? Does it remain when you drive and remove the foot from the gas pedal while remaining in gear?

If the answers are yes-this can be a bad wheel bearing..

The noise is constantly the same, whichever speed you’re at. Even when not moving and you have your foot on the accelerator makes the noise, and when you’re in gear and not on the accelerator makes the noise.

 

I will record a video later and see if you can hear!
