My dealer wants 570 euros for a two year service

Featured Replies

It's an oil+oil filter change, pollen filter change, brake fluid change, and inspection. Car is two years old and has 16k miles on it. Dealer is quoting it as 570 euros. I'm in Budapest Hungary.

I have a friend who does the oil change for me at cost (80 euros) since he owns an Isuzu repair facility.

Looking at the prices here:

https://www.lookers.co.uk/skoda/servicing-and-parts/offers/service-plans

Oil and Inspection Service   £185
Pollen Filter £35
Brake Fluid + ins £65

Total  £285 ~ 330 euros.

Dealer here was 570 euros. Seems way excessive.

Never had a single problem with the car. It's been great.

Welcome.

What engine have you got?

You have left it to 16,000 miles this time, are you leaving it the same again or are you going to service / do oil and filter changes each year now.

& have stuff done, not just looked at and reports as with a Skoda Main Dealer?

Use a trusted friend or garage, and the correct oil, fluids and parts.

So, the prices you show are,

Way too expensive, and not all required @ 2 years / 16,000 miles anyway.

**** EDIT.  I see your link has LOOKERS covering cars from 1 year old. ****

>

?

What is your Warranty situation, is it a 2 year manufacturers warranty?

You are quoting UK prices for Fixed Price Service & Maintenance at participating dealers on 3-10 year old cars on ;Fixed Servicing',

so best ignore that.

***See my Edit above'.**** so still over priced.

The £35 Pollen filter costs less than £15.    Maybe change that your self.

In the UK the Brake fluid advice / Manufacturers recommendation is @ 3 years then each 2.   So give that a miss at 2 years in Hungary.

4 year warranty.

570 euros seems nuts. Drive it once/twice week on shorter trips and take a few road trips every year. Want to keep the car for a decade at least.

I don't get the differences between countries; its driving me batty to try and figure it out. That chart definitely helps. Appreciate it.

I see the difference between countries.

My partner is Hungarian and her Son in Law has a Skoda Octavia.    The UK is a rip off and Hungary even more so.

So weather does make a difference but then you have no sea coast, and are not as far north as parts of the UK, not even the south and you get hotter and colder weather,

But the cars are not made of chocolate,

so just get the car serviced properly, and do not get ripped off.

yea I was a dolt and waited six months too long. won't happen again. planning on doing it every spring. my buddy is good, orders OEM parts. gets everything at cost.

trying to figure out all the other stuff to do. we do a western european road trip every summer where we put 3k-4k miles on it, all the other trips are smaller. car will never see more than 8k miles/year.

thanks again for the info

Your friend can check the Brake Fluid for H2o content with a tester.

They can inspect the brakes and service pre or post winter.

They can check tyres as you can.

Clean or replace Air Filter.

Check and clean or replace Air Filter.

Change spark plugs when due.

Check wipes, lights etc.

Lubricate door hinges, locks etc and condition door seals / rubbers.

It is all basic stuff,  have fun doing it.

Engine dependent for Timing belt, gearbox and stuff.

Rather like my experience, you are being legged over, as we say in Sarf Lunnon.

I had an oil/inspection service at 12 months on my October 21 Kamiq 1.5 at under 5k miles which cost c £181. I queried the cost of £285 for what is scheduled as another oil/inspection service at 24 months (and under 8k miles) . Got a long verbal list of what was extra, which sounded like no more than my 1 year service, except for ‘it’s because it’s a 2021 model’.

Wanting to keep my warranty, I paid up like a mug.

The car is fantastic…but I will NEVER buy another Skoda!!

For the exactly same maintenance service I just paid EUR 328 in Latvia.
