Need help understanding if the engine noise is okay on a car with 27k miles

Featured Replies

HI All,  I have noticed my Skoda Octavia 1ltr TSI engine sounds a lot louder than I would have expected after being warmed up.  Please could you take 2 mins to review the attached video of the sound and let me know your thoughts?

The AA team recommended I call https://www.ace-uk.website/ but I am trying to look for a local VW/Skoda specialist garage.

No idea but 3 cylinders and with a GPF.

Hopefully others with a 4 year old ones can compare with theirs.

?

How long have you had it,

is it from new?

Has it always sounded as it does now?

Maybe makes no difference,

but has it got in 5w 30 FS III oil or 0w 20 FS IV so VW508 00.

?

Have the spark plugs been replaced yet.

27,000 miles is not much but they are a 40,000 / 4 year item, and just 3 to check / replace.

EDIT.

PS.  I remember after looking at your other posts.   So the car they were going to change the DSG oil in that never needed it,

and that could maybe really do with a service.

Maybe someone with the same engine could put up a video for comparison?

Trusted Dealer.  No way.

Wonderful response from Skoda UK's Customer Service providers.  Not.

So supposedly instead of replacing the spark plugs at 4 years & 27,000 miles,  THEY CHECKED THEM.

Actually took out 3 spark plugs,

checked the gap and then replaced them.

Yeah not the best experience on my first purchase from an approved used car dealer.  I really needed a break with all that's going on in life (health issues, bills rising, landlord issues, work life/balance issues).

I have one week left before the 30 days are up with the purchase.  I have only driven around 300 miles since having it.

Isn't it the turbo wastegate actuator rod rattling noise?

Note that it is accessible from top behind the engine in Octavia.

Not sure on the noise thing it sounds normal, they aren’t the quietest engines with the bonnet up. Give it back, you don’t like the noise, it only has one key and they won’t help you. Exercise your right to return it, they’ll start doing something then.
