Columbus MIB2 - White Noise/interference

Featured Replies

I've got an old 2014 Octavia with Columbus MIB2.

Recently, I've noticed an intermittent sort of white/noise interference when playing music from a digital source MP3 or Bluetooth (kind of like you used to get when listening to analog radio with a weak signal)

It doesn't happen all the time & initially I thought it was perhaps some badly ripped mp3s but it also does this sometimes when the music is muted.

It only seems to appear for a short time & then will disappear (so I'm assuming its hardware related, dry solder or warming up kind of problem with the Columbus).

It doesn't seem to be getting any worse (its been like this for the last 6 months or so).

Anyone had something similar & any possible root causes I could look into?

Is the MIB2 Columbus a retrofit?

MIB2 wasn't introduced until mid 2015 so a 2014 would ahve been fitted with a MIB1 at the factory.

@PetrolDave, You are right, it is an MIB1, is the factory fit that came with the car.

I'll try to change the title.
