Changing from Octavia to Kodiaq

Featured Replies

Hi, as stated above i am seriously thinking about changing my Octavia Scout for a 2019 or so 2L non 4x4 DSG 5 seater.

My Scout is a great towcar, and im hoping that the Kodiaq at that spec will be just as good. I think im right in saying (having read the sticky) that this car can tow with this particular setup.

Are there any pitfalls? do i need to check for towbar prep, either re the wiring or any cooling upgrade?

Thanks.

From other threads I thought towbar prep was required to get the towing weight details stamped on the specification plate on the door pillar.

Without that on the plate it's illegal to fit a towbar.

I think that is now true for models for the last year or so, however I have my eye on 2019 dsg models

Well, I’ve done it. Picking up a 2019 5 seater DSG in a week. Looking forward to it. Enjoyed the test drive, but forgot to check whether any of the ‘simply clever’ items like the umbrellas had been pinched! Anyway first job will be to source a spare tyre kit.

We moved from a 2016 Octavia Scout to a 2018 Kodiaq Scout (1.4 TSI, manual). We didn't tow with the Octavia, but the Kodiaq makes for a very good tow car.

That’s reassuring. I’m getting an after market towbar fitted by an independent, then I pick the car up. Judging by the various comments on here, I don’t think I really have to worry about the cooling. I may just have to fit the grille with the larger slits, but I’ll wait until my first towing trip to see. The only thing that annoys me, and it’s the same with most cars these days…. No blooming spare tyre. Will have to get the Skoda kit which will include the foam inserts to raise the floor to the required height.
