Skoda Connect

Featured Replies

Hi, I received an e-mail from Skoda yesterday advising me that my Skoda connect services has expired, I didn't bother renewing it last year and not sure what has changed with the vehicle since.

I mentions use of call services in case of accident , I thought this was an EU safety directive and free to use.

Is it a worthwhile purchase or not, we do not use the car for business travelling just commuting and the odd weekend trips ( not so much during the big freeze although going to Newcastle this week.

Thanks.

Martin

Hi Martin

Since you are asking - in my view, from my experience - if you are desperately looking to spend some money go for a nice dinner. I really cannot see any advantage of the Skoda Connect service. The emergency call feature is going to work regardless. All other "tools" are as good as chocolate fireguard. Take it as my subjective opinion only.

I renewed so I would get up to date maps and traffc info for the satnav I use week in week out.

I have no problems paying for a service I want.

You could of course just go for a nice dinner, but the satnav may not get you there!!

Map updates are free and I somehow get live traffic without Skoda connect, unless it’s different on newer models compared to 2016?

I use it and like the intergration compared to carplay. I have my phone as a wifi hotspot and it connects to that.

You'll get TMC traffic updates without Skoda Connect

Google Maps on Android Auto or Apple Carplay is vastly superior to Skoda maps and always free, just plug your phone into the usb port and select the appropriate option on the infotainment

Yes I get up dates on sat nav such as location of fuel stations.

Interesting thoughts, might not be many places to go for a nice meal shortly due to the financial situation we seem to be in.

Thanks everyone.

I have had the email asking me to renew. First of all I think the membership to Skoda Connect should last the three years of warranty but hey ho.
I will not renew on the basis that the Sat nav is way out of date, with speed limits as an example.

I use Waze for Sat nav, updated constantly because it is done by users in real time. I have also used Google Maps which is also very good. Both of them knock the inbuilt Skoda Sat nav into touch as far as I’m concerned.
