2019 2.0 TDI Octavia engine rattle when cold

Featured Replies

Hi All.

Having some rattle on cold engine, any pointers what could that be? Car has 43k miles and full service - last one was 3 months back. Rattle was there when I got the car back in June, its getting louder now.

It is colder now than June, but maybe it is not just that.   Someone with better hearing than me will be along.

Is there an invoice showing the oil used?

Was it to VW508 00 / 509 00  so 0w 20 FS IV

So who was the car bought from and who serviced it & what have full services included?

Oil & Filter, look see, maybe the pollen filter and maybe the brake fluid changed.

@polzky

Unrelated to your noise, just the full servicing,

has the Haldex been serviced yet.  & properly, not just the oil changed?

Hi Toot, thanks for reply. Car was serviced in Skoda just after I've purchased it, had oil changed, all filters along with pollen filter, brake fluid change, dsg service and haldex service. I've bought it from Lookers and it turned out it had 2 services in Skoda since 2019, last service along with DSG was missed by few hundred miles and Lookers didn't care to get it done. Shame I was unable to check it before purchase as all service records are now only available in Skoda dealers. I'm not sure about the qualiy of the service but assuming it was all done in Skoda dealership I would like to think it's all as it supposed to be.

Just wondering if it was Henrys or Parks.

Sadly you certainly can not be sure of the quality of servicing.

?

So is it a Skoda Approved Used car and with a 12 month Warranty or even 24 months?

Haldex Service @ 3 years / 30,000 miles or sooner, to be Serviced to the manufacturers guidelines, recommendation, schedule or specification,

and Lookers know that and know if no record or having been done as do any other Official Skoda Dealerships / Approved Repairers.

I booked it in Henry's Skoda in Glasgow. Car was not advertised as Skoda approved and surely I didn't get warranty that long, it was 2 or 3 months only. It was just below 32k when I got it and 30k service was missing. I was looking for Scout for some time so when this one appeared for sale in lookers I just went for it, even if that was Lookers Nissan in Carlisle.

Probably why not sold by them as a Skoda Approved Used Car if not a Full Service History at the time they got it.

Check is your ac blowing stone cooled and Have a look down at ac pull and look for rust and see are the 3 tabs broke off to allow pully to spin free of pump in the event of pump locking up . I
