Horrid noise on cold start - tensioners on their way?

Hi all, recently had a run in with the oil pressure light while on the road, pulled over and got the car towed.

leading up to this happening, the engine had developed what could only be described as a grinding sound upon cold start. Comes from drivers side (RHD), seemingly low on the block.

Doesn’t happen once the engine is warm, though getting it above 3-3.5k revs seems to further exacerbate the problem.

Car stats:

2012 Fabia RS

190000kms

CAVE engine code

regularly serviced with nulon 5w-40 adhering to Lucifers oil change guide, recently replaced denso iridium plugs, correctly gapped.

Since that video the sound hasn’t gone away but hasn’t gotten worse. The car is currently drivable on the advice of a local mechanic, though he’s also said to drive it as little as possible, which I do.

im thinking timing chain/tensioners, but open to other suggestions or thoughts on what might be going on

Cheers

The Low Oil Pressure Light can happen even before the Low Oil Light comes on if the oil is low.

So i am assuming the oil was not low.  I had an Oil pressure light once with a Twin Charger after doing an oil and filter change and putting in Mobile 1 i got from someone.

Correct level oil, i had put in 3.9 litres not 3.6 and got it hot.  'They had given me hooky oil'.     I dropped the oil a few miles later put in what i knew was good and all was well there.

?

THERE WAS NOT A RUBBER SEAL LEFT ON WHEN THE OIL FILTER WAS CHANGED WAS THERE, OR THE OIL FILTER PUT ON VERY TIGHT?

So ?

Was the car actually 'Towed' as on 4 wheels in Neutral,   or the front wheels on a dolly, or the car on a low loader.

They should not be Towed.

Above 3,500 rpm you are on Turbo only and not Turbo & Supercharger.

So

?

Has the car had a new Water Pump / Supercharger Magnetic Clutch?

Oil was dropped and refilled with Nulon 5w30 + new filter ~5000km ago, was never a burner so should be good for another 5000km at least, based on prior experience.

Was on a low lifter, not a rolling tow.

Did the water pump/mag clutch ~40000km ago

This is a video I took 20 mins ago that better demonstrates the noise, it’s a very different noise to what I experienced with the water pump/ mag clutch the first time around:

Did you open the bonnet and dip the oil when hot when the Low Oil Pressure / Red oil can light came on or the message came up?

Was there plenty oil as in at the top of the cross hatch?

Remember once the bonnet is open the Low Oil or Low oil Pressure Yellow can or Red Can lights go out, even when no oil is added.

For as much as 100 km.

Other with more knowledge than me will be along.

All the best with it.

I hope you were not running suspect oil, or oil at a low level.

5w 40 FS to VW502 00 is fine for Fixed Service Intervals.
