Warning light after service - advice?

Featured Replies

Just put my Vrs in for a service on Saturday (28000 mile) I have had no problems whatsoever with it from new.

I am not a petrol head, I just drive and let other people sort out any problems so forgive any mechanical ignorance!

240 miles after the service, the engine mgt warning light has come on and the car has no power and feels like it is "missing".

The problem I have is I live on the wirral but work in Glasgow, I get paid hourly and would have to take time off to take it to the nearest Skoda dealers.

Should the dealer that did the service have any responsibility here? ie call the local dealer up here and arrange for it to be picked up, or is it just a coincidence and I will have to sort it out myself?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Mark

Ye olde coil pack problem methinks.

Advice here on limping to dealer. Or get the car recovered by the AA. If you can, try to get the dealer to replace all four at the same time.

This really should have been done when the car was serviced. Get on the phone and give them a good ***king.

The least they should do is arrange to drop off a curtsey car and take yours back to the workshop.

unfortunatly it sound as if one of the ignition coils on your engine has failed. Your local dealer wouldn,t have known that it was going to fail as it has done.

please call your local skoda garage and explain your problem. the car needs to be recoverd for new coil packs to be fitted. this job takes no longer than 10 min max including resetting your ecm light on the dash board. due to faults on early coil packs many dealers are now replacing all 4 with new updated coils.

hope this explains and helps you. pps this job is coverd under warranty.

good luk davefish

davefish, it was my understanding that Skoda uk had told all servicing dealers to check the affected cars at the next service interval, and replace all coil packs if they were H or J variants, for this very reason.
