Hi all, I`m new to the forum and have been struggling for the last few weeks to find the cause of my 2011 Octavia 1.6 TDI greenline to die.

It suddenly thru up driver assist button failure along with ABS, steering sbs, brake failure warning lights, it would start and instantly cut out due to ecu immobilising engine cause of the faults.

I  checked all fuses they were fine and tried reading the fault codes but couldn't get communication with ecu, I have pinpointed the issue to the Canbus gateway, I removed it and found it full of water with corrosion round some of the terminals, I have ordered a replacement but my issue now is I will need to code the replacement gateway to the same settings/ installation list as the original one but how will I get the installation list if I cant read the original?

Is there anyway I can find out what the setting should be for my original canbus gateway. I could plug and play but sone of the settings might not be the same and can thru up faults, any help with this would be very appreciated.

Most of the thing you need to adjust when you place in a new Gateway is the installation list, so it needs to know if you have ABS/TPMS etc.

Online coding could be done, but if the car doesn't drive to the garage that makes it fun.

 

What tool do you have to program the Gateway?

Installation list is normally pretty easy to figure out on that generation of car.

 

Add things that aren't registered and remove things that are missing will get you pretty close.

Thanks guys for the replies, I have dried out my original Canbus gateway and now have the car running only problem now is I have an airbag error which my my foxwell diagnostics can communicate with to erase the fault also have an issue with central locking, when I press the unlock button on fob you can hear the mechanism moving and the indicators flash but the boot doesn't unlock, also when I try to lock the car absolutely nothing happens, I can't lock the car, I have also received a replacement canbus gateway which I have fitted but the issues remain. 

The central locking issue only started when the canbus gateway failed. 

I have now managed to clear the airbag fault but the central locking electric windows  and washer fault remains,

Hi,

I am having same issue, same car, same generation, same engine but from 2013. Sometimes will start and drive fine, but most of the time engine start and shut off immediately and showing same errors. I tried to connect an obd scanner but there is no communication with any module from the car, which will also suggest an issue with gateway or some kind of short. I'm wondering how can water enter to gateway module, isn't located in interior under the steering-wheel? I am going to remove it  and check for water damage. I'm hopping it is has same problem.
