  • I read it as Pete did, I think its lacking a comma (after thermostat) as to my knowledge there is no such thing as a "thermostat expansion bottle"

Did you change the thermostat?

Hundreds of times, ignore the bickering if you can, I know it's irritating.

Your problem sounds intractable, you've already changed everything that could be at fault.

Thermostat

Changed expansion  bottle and cap

Thermostat

Thank you. The lack of punctuation in your original post did not make that clear.

Please note - I am not a mechanic or expert in anything.

Did you check the new thermostat before installing it?

Have you removed the new thermostat since it was suggested to you?

Just because something is new doesn't mean it can't be faulty, did you buy a good quality thermostat or cheapest you could find on the web?

You haven't given a lot of info to go on, how long have you had the car and it hasn't got up to temperature?

How long has the top hose only been warm, summer, winter, part of winter?

The dpf light may well be on if the engine is running cool but it could also be on for other reasons separate or in addition to the cool running.  What type of journeys do you normally make in distance, time and type (stop/start city, b-road slow or blasts, A-road slow or blasts, motorway)?

What is the service history of the car, have you plugged in a scan tool, if so what temperature readings did you get for the various temperature sensors?

Just because you have changed a lot of parts doesn't mean they were necessarily directly good for this issue(s) and changing more still may not resolve this.  I've always been in favour of thorough cleaning of the whole coolant/heating systems and flush / back-flush flush again at each stage of cleaning and system but that's more about efficient cooling.

What have you done to the engine rather than the cooling/heating system?

Yes water tem is 68 nothing to engine it's standard

Per my earlier post, did you tried using the motorway in a lower gear/higher revs - at a lower speed to stop too much outside air cooling effect through the radiator - to review if you can get it up to temp. What mileage is a typical trip, and what type of roads are these on - even though I live on the edge of the Pennines where most trips involve a climb general trips can be under 5 miles during which the temp may never get much above 70 deg.c. This may be due to thermal efficiency of the Greenline. Even my weekly trip into the office of about 20 miles does not result in regular and constant 90 deg.c due to stop start rush hour traffic with the heater sucking heat out of the coolant.

Is the DPF light on constantly, others may be able to advise if this illuminates while a regen is occuring, and again journey lengths will have some effect as unless sufficient mileage is covered a regen may not complete, getting into a cycle of trying to complete every time you drive.

That is definitely not up to operating temperature. Should be around 90°C.

The car is a 1.6tdi estate manual 2010

The temp of the coolants is still only 68

Maybe I'm wrong, but you don't seem to have answered the question about your car usage, ie journey length along with what type of speeds.

Cabin air flap motors, now that might just be another part of your problems, ie the temperature flap motor or the one that works the re-circulate and general direction of air flow to where you feel it the most.

Good answers/help rely on good info being handed out when requested.

Also, 3 thermostats - did any of them end up being checked in a pan/tin of boiling water, and where any/all of them new and "quality" brands?

If the coolant temperature only gets up to 68C then the air coming into the car is never going to get hot, especially if the aircon is fighting against it.

Even with no thermostat in place I would expect the coolant to get up to temperature eventually, unless it is exceptionally cold and the radiator fan is running constantly.

No  No No has anybody ever changed the full heater on a skoda fabia 1.6tdi or a diagram  of the heater flaps or how to change them or how to tell if the manual  controls work

How to remove the compleat heater has any ody got any pics

Please note - I am not a mechanic or expert in anything.

Up to you if you want to help others to help you.

Give more information, a photo or just say which type of heater or air-con you have in the car, there might be a flap reset for the automatic versions, or you could do a search for repair or bodging of the flaps.

If you add more of the car's details (1.6tdi CAYC and perhaps gearbox, trim level) to your name plate it would also help and save you repeating this info too often, see below.

Where is the heater flap on a skoda fabia mk11 with manual knobs whats it look like are the motors the same are they interchangeable

The manual ones have no motors, they are controlled  / moved by flexi shafts, levers and worm gears....  The heater box "assy" is different considerably between "manual" heating and "climate" heating.

Even "if" they were the same, you still have to remove the dash to remove the heater to replace the temp motor. Might I suggest looking for somone on here close to you with VCDS to plug in and check the heater / climate motors and valves are working, there may even be a fault code potentially telling you whats wrong.

You never answered my question on 27th December about whether this is a car with a DSG gearbox. Is it, or is it manual?
