My son has just purchased a 2016 Octavia  VRS .He previously owned a 2006 vrs  which had a cd player. His new one  he thought there was one. But no its a blanking plate. Can anybody out there  let me know the part number and were the best place to buy the cd player.

What infotainment system does his vRS have - Amundsen, Columbus, something else?

 

The Amundsen doesn't have a CD player nor does it support a CD player, AFAIK only the Columbus has a CD/DVD player.

The glovebox unit is the main head unit so to change that would need a new (or used)  unit, this then needs component protection removed by a dealer. Then recoding to the car. Probably looking at more than £500 all in. A lot of money for a cd player.

If specifically needing to make use of a cd collection maybe spend time ripping them and saving to SD card. More convenient for in the car and searchable on the system.

... which is what I have done, over the years I've ripped all my CDs (and some vinyl and cassettes too) so I have all my music on my iPhone and on SD cards.
