New to Skoda ownership.

Featured Replies

Hi. I'm new to Soda ownership. Just bought a high mileage Skoda Superb MK2 2011 4x4.

I wanted the 4x4 version as I live in a remote area surrounded by hills and valleys. Boot is cavernous which is great for our 2 large dogs.

This car was bought as I previously owned a 2001 Audi Allroad which I loved but it was a bit thirsty. This is from the same stable and returns good mpg.

So far I have to say I'm very impressed by it. Leather interior, finish is good, mpg is good for a 4x4 (compared to the Audi).

So far I serviced it myself. I've had the timing belt & water pump replaced.

New clutch & dual mass flywheel was unforseen but as I want to hold onto the car for some time, I need it to be reliable.

It's reliable & comfortable on the longer journeys.

Apologies for the long winded introduction but I have to say I'm really enjoying this car.

Many thanks,

Michael.

Welcome.

Has the Haldex had recent servicing or are you going to do that?

No. Not to my knowledge. Would hope to get this done too. Is this a problem area? I'm lucky to have a good mechanic and the easier jobs, I'll do myself.

@mkerIt used to be a @40,000 mile / 4 year thing, but first VW went to 3 years / 30,000 and eventually Skoda got there.

It is important and even before 3 years / 30,000 mile intervals.

You will find guides here on doing it.

There are different generations of Haldex.     (Volvo even have it at 2 years / 20,000 miles back in 2011)

?

Did you not have it done on the Audi?

This is on the newer generation Haldex, but gives you an idea.

That's fantastic detail and the main reason for joining this forum.. Many Thanks for taking the time to post this.

You'll have to excuse my ignorance on such matters. My Audi did have it done during my ownership but that was due to my Mechanics insistence rather than my knowledge.

I would love to try this as it looks fairly straightforward..... but I'm fearful of making a mess of it.

Thanks again for taking the time to reply!!
