Problem with RHS speakers

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I'm no expert in car audio so I'm looking for a shove in the right direction to safe me wasting time.

I took my 2018 Octavia VRS in for servicing at Skoda last weekend and I noticed a few days later that the radio/android auto etc didn't sound right in the car. After playing around with the balancing I've discovered the RHS door speakers (front and back) have stopped working.

However the RHS tweeters are working fine.

I can't find a diagram of the wiring for the speakers but from the problem statement above is it likely to be the wiring near the front offside door that's the issue or could it be the MIB2 in the glovebox is packing up?

I would imagine that the RHS tweeters are fed by the same outputs on the back of the MIB as the main RHS door speakers but I can't find a diagram.

Thanks all

Edit- When they serviced it they also did the Aircon service. Is it possible changing the cabin filter tugged on something as I know the back of the MIB and the cabin filter are about an inch away from each other. In other words did Skoda cause it 😞

I would say most likely door wiring or even more likely, on basis it's in two doors, the mid bass drivers themselves.

Also agree tweeters will be driven off same output with just a cap to filter bass. So unlikely at mib end unless you've got some fancy amp set up with separate hf lf outputs direct to speaker units..

Thanks for the info..

It's totally stock so nothing fancy unfortunately 🙂

I'll try taking the door cards off this week and see what's what.

It could be the speakers themselves but it seems a crazy coincidence they both went the same time.

Did you ever resolve this? I have an issue on mine where the rear right door speaker and tweeter are crackling, and most of the time does it when the engine is running and 9/10 is fine when the engine is off.

I had the amp chips reflowed last year due to a sound cut out issue on the entire drivers side so the crackling sound is very different to that.

I have checked the wiring and all looks ok behind head unit and the door loom (the little of it I can access). The speaker connections all seem ok too and every connection has been contact cleaned.
